Preliminary Exercise: 3c Introduction to Color in Film

 11/10

The Analysis of Color: Black/White
The colors black and white have a wild variety of meaning. Black referring to isolation, insanity, death, darkness, and one just being devoid of something whether it be a certain emotion or feeling. Along with white being either the complete opposite of black, one being pure either in mentality or literally, a holy occurrence, someone having a revelation, or a recent death. However, in both terms of these colors relating to the movie scenes, the director almost completely changes these connotations while having these colors almost flip their meanings. The director of Men in Black has black to signify a secret society showing the higher position in society all while being up the cover of darkness. White in the clip of Riverdale is used to show a grieving character and the emotions that she is feeling all while keeping a neutral body language.
