Post Production: Clip Sizes

Clip sizes Kayla focused on the sizes of our clips to help add audio and adapt to the changing of our clips' colors. By doing so, she was able to create a visually appealing and engaging video that kept the audience's attention throughout. Additionally, her attention to detail and ability to seamlessly integrate audio with the changing visuals made for a cohesive and polished final product. I tried to be as much help as possible if needed; however, I let Kayla have full control of the editing since she requested so. Unfortunately, we ended up needing more clips as we were short a couple of seconds, which led us to instead ending on the cliffhanger of Daphne and Pandora meeting, it would be Pandora's death. Kayla's decision to have full control of the editing paid off as the final product was a success. The cliffhanger ending left the audience wanting more and created anticipation for the rest of the film.

Post-Production: Sound

Sound In our editing process, Kayla also focused on sound. Sound in our film is really important, just as color is, since our film doesn't have much dialogue other than the main character speaking. Kayla's attention to sound design has helped to create a more immersive experience for the audience, enhancing the emotional impact of the film. Her work on sound effects and music has added depth and dimension to the story, making it more engaging and memorable. Kayla had previous experience in editing, which made her perfect for being our editor. Due to her attention to detail, our film's opening was created by the best person on hand.

Post Production: Editing Color

Film Editing During the editing of our film my partner and I shared many ideas. When trying to get the horror aspect we used many tactics. We used Wevideo to edit our films. Since my partner was assigned to editing she did most of it, but we still keep communication during the production, making sure to share ideas and give each other updates on what needed to be done. While my partner was editing she focused on color since I filmed during the day we had to change certain aspects like color. The lighting was too bright and took away from the horror mood. During the editing, Kayla focused on many things and then showed them to me to make sure we were in agreeance during the whole process.

Production: Clips

Movie Clips During our filming, my actors and I had taken a few extra shots and decided to split our filming into two parts. We filmed some bloopers to show the actors how they were feeling during part one compared to part two. We wanted to make everyone feel included and see how they felt about their roles and actions during filming. We also ended up fixing the resolution of our film, using filmora.

Production: Cast List

Cast List I decided to make this blog post highlighting our actors since they took time out of their day to help with our film. Without their dedication and hard work, our film would not have been possible. It is important to recognize and appreciate the efforts of all those who contributed to its success. Their focus during the film helped make the editing process easier since the blending of clips was easier to do. It is also important to acknowledge the role of the actors in bringing the characters to life and making them relatable to the audience. Their performances added depth and emotion to the film, making it a more engaging experience for viewers. It helps to know that some of them were in the drama club, so I know they weren't shy about the spotlight.

Production: Cast List- Pandora

Pandora Pandora's character is played by Royalty, another close friend. Royalty had a similar professionalism to Sashana, except she didn't play an actor during her time in the drama club.  Despite not being an actor, Royalty's involvement in the drama club allowed her to develop skills that were valuable in her portrayal of Pandora's character. By watching the other actors, she was able to acquire this skill. Her professionalism and dedication to the craft were evident in her performance.

Production: Cast List- Daphne

Daphne Her character is played by Sashana who is a part of the Drama Club. Sashana's performance in the Drama Club has prepared her well for the role, and she brings a depth of emotion and authenticity to the character that audiences can relate to. Her portrayal of the character is both nuanced and captivating, making her a standout member of the cast. As a close friend of mine, I had some worries about her professionalism during the filming, but she came through towards the end. With only a few mistakes that were done over in one or two takes.

Production: Wardrobe

Wardrobe During our filming, we had to have the actors wear the outfits from the beginning of the day to the end, when we filmed, as we don't have a mobile wardrobe of sorts. The clothing I had Sashana, who played Daphne, wear a blue-based outfit to represent the inner sadness she holds. While the shade was bright, her character depiction is quite the opposite. Daphne wore red to symbolize a romantic interest and resemblance to death. As red is usually the color of blood. It would be a marker of how her blood would spill.

Production: Design

Set Design The set design was a big factor in our work. As we cannot move or change our set since it was filmed in a public setting, we were forced to work with what we had. We manipulated the setting in a sense to give the effect of long hallways and played with the lighting during editing. When we filmed at the park we stuck to the shadows and tried not to get anything that may ruin the atmosphere in the shot. The fact we filmed while the park wasn't completely busy, there were no people in our area. Thankfully the park has a parking lot that's worn and broken down in a sense.

Pre-production: Movie script

Image
Movie Script As my partner and I were planning out our film and creating the storyboard, we were also working on the script. Our script mainly focuses on what thoughts our main character had during their walk through the school, leading up to meeting the second character.  We mostly use voiceovers and the only main dialogue takes place at the park. The script helps make sure our voice over will be smooth to the clips being shown.

Pre-Production: Developing and Planning part 9

Act 1 Shot list Our shot list is our outline for the intro of our film. This version helps keep us organized and gives a firm layout of what kind of emotions we wanted to add.

Pre-Production: Developing and Planning a Film part 8

Exposition While making the exposition for our film, my partner and I decided that at the beginning of the film, it would be mostly voiceovers. With the rest of the film takes place from a p.o.v standpoint. Having the film be from Daphne's perspective would make the audience question if this was how people really treated her or if that's how she perceived it.

Pre-Production: Developing and Planning a Film part 7

Narrative Structure The Narrative structure of our film is done to help keep us organized during our filming. The Opening parts of our film weren't hard to come by moreover the parts after the opening. Either way, my partner and I got things done.

Pre-production: Planning document part 6

Image
Setting Our setting takes place mostly at the school since the main character is a high schooler character. The other scenes would take place at the local park and home of the main character, Daphne. Getting to see how she acts at home would add a lot to her character development since the home is supposed to be someone's safe place.

Pre-production: Planning document part 5

Characters For the definition of our characters, we focused on appearances and the moral values they hold. The document also focuses on the lifestyle of the main character and the attributes of the side characters. Daphne and the side characters, Pandora and Eden, are described to connect with colors and character tropes.

Pre-production: Planning document part 4

Logline During the creation of the logline, my partner and I had many ideas on what Daphne's main conflict would be or how we would word the main conflict. Daphne's character is haunted by the figment of what she believes is her first love/crush made for a more compelling argument, as Daphne is disconnected from most conversations, so having her worry about being caught for the crime didn't fit as much as her mental instability having a break which disrupts her day to day. It's undefinable whether it's Daphne's guilty conscious causing this figment or something supernatural.

Film Pitch This document shows how we planned to pitch our film to a group of people to determine if our film would be popular and have to outcome we wanted. The film was to make the audience think about what others may be thinking or feeling and how they may process information differently. This is a more in-depth version of our original film pitch, which was created to really show the extent of our thought process.

Pre-production: Planning document part 2

Developing the Film Opening Our film opening and movie pitch coincide to let the audience know the main characters' interests and conflicts.  Our focus wasn't to demoralize those who suffered from mental illnesses but to inform others of how some could feel overwhelmed to a point of acting on intrusive thoughts. The movie doubles as a horror film as it shows people how badly things could end up by acting on intrusive thoughts.

Pre-production: Planning document part 1

Film Cast and Crew During our planning, we decide to use fellow classmates as the main actors. We also decided on our roles as a two-person team. Since our team is so small we have more work to do, but I and my partner felt we could get things done. We worked together to help take the workload off of each other.

Pre-production: Planning in film/Film pitch

Image
Film Pitch A film pitch is a brief summary of a hypothetical film's components, including plot, characters, setting, and theme. It's good to pitch a movie to an audience so you know what to change and adapt more to connect to an audience, that way when you produce the movie it won't be a complete waste of money with some fans. Film producers engage the audience by creating a film based on current events or problems and asking the audience for feedback when pitching their film to the audience.  You may recognize a film opening with the introduction of the production company logo, a title screen, sound in the film, and credits. The production logo helps the audience know who produced the film if they were unaware of the team previous to their movie going. The title screen can give a hint of the genre while providing the audience more information to the film, as a title can provide a lot of information to a film. Opening with sound can let the audience know the film is beginn...

Pre-Production: story board

Storyboard Our storyboard was created and edited many times before we landed on one idea to work with. This idea is the one we are creating right now, with the homicidal teen who kills to release her emotions because she doesn't know how to process them. We believe that this concept will resonate with our target audience, as it touches on themes of mental health and the struggle of adolescence. Additionally, we plan to incorporate visually striking elements to enhance the storytelling and create a memorable viewing experience.
