Image
09/27 Analyzing of Setting Setting in film pertains to the scene in which the film or shot takes place. For a film to be an established film, some key components would be an established plot that could include some form of conflict, a main character, side character, antagonist or background character which plays to give the MC a chance for character development. The most important characteristic would be the framing of the camera and composition of the shot, the least important object to a film producer would be the face shape of an actor. Setting is important to Mise En Scene as setting with Mise En Scene can create a mood or develop an important part of the plot/theme.      The exercise is to help break down the key components of setting to better understand what's needed to create a good setting for a short film of our own. The plot of the movie we analyzed was lighthearted; the main character was on vacation with his family who end up interacting with o...

Preliminary Exercise 3 B: Introduction to Genre

09/26 Conventions Bubble Organizer Films are categorized by either the theme or a conflict, this develops genre, an easier way to describe a film based on the composition and moods. Genres like horror, sci-fi, comedy, romance, all have a definitive base which directors and screenwriters build off of to create movies. These genres make it easy for an audience to look for a movie they might relate to or enjoy based on the color or plot. Some genres I'm interested in are horror, fantasy, and comedy. These genres have my interest as their very different compositions, each genre either brings a new perspective on something or entertains me to keep me busy. Franchises like Men in Black which fall under comedy and sci-fi will always be my favorite. Not only with the choices of actors but the lines and ideas behind the film.   My partner and I created a horror media text, we engage our audience by having a poster related to our genre. Specifically, the Scream Franchise. In ...

All these traits help create a neat filming set making the movie easy for the audience to enjoy/understand making them the key elements of mise En scene. There are two types of mise En scene; naturalistic which makes the movie seem to relate to our reality by adding aspects which exist in our own day to day life, and theatrical which doesn’t intend to be normal having nonrealistic traits. Each director portrays mise En scene differently giving their films a form of spice. This will help m...

Welcome to my AICE Media Studies Blog    Media studies is very important in the day to day life; media can be absorbed in many different ways, each having a different format. Studying media is important to understand the different forms you want to reach out too when creating your own media product. Pre say you wanted to reach out to a younger crowd to advertise a comic strip your creating, you would want to include bright colors and a diverse main character/group that could relate to the target audience. Personally, as someone who falls under the young adult range, would sometimes prefer to see this in more comics. While cool undertones in color schemes are pleasant to look at the brighter tones are pleasant to look at. I tend to enjoy looking at colorful animations just for the display, the plot is an added bonus though. Three of the most interesting things in media studies would be the conventions of a group of people and how they interact with media; the advancements...
