Research: Storyboarding Camera Angles

11/15 Introduction to Camera Angles  While working on the camera angles with my teammates we found a plot line based off a generic horror movie. Kayla and I did the plot line together, Me and Kayla were the main characters while an unknown figure was the main antagonist. I did most of the artist work on the camera angles. With the camera angles we found the most complicated part was drawing the facial expressions and scenery. With the insert shot we chose to capture the Knifes to emphasize it's intent. Having a figure in the background following two innocent girls that just want to have some fun, would make the audience feel some sense of worry for the main characters, which is what we want. We wanted to create tension to leave the audience invested in the film.

Research: Storyboarding Shot Sizes

11/14 Introduction to Storyboarding Shot Sizes Shot sizes are how much is being presented in film such as the setting or the subject in frame. We use shot size to decide how much we want to show the audience in our film, since we are creating a horror film my partner and I plan to manipulate the shot sizes to create an intensity in the film that leaves the audience wanting to watch more.    The shot sizes we picked are done to emphasize the mood of the film and experiment to get a good idea of  how we want to set up our film, by creating different scenarios of what our protagonist can do or interact with others/items in frame.

11/10 The Analysis of color: Warm/Cool Colors These warm colors are used to show a sense of security or clarity. The color brown specifically is seen as a grounding color allowing for someone to feel protected or secure whether it be in oneself or a sense of security. As the movie uses the color brown to show one of the main characters who is a direct connection with the security of Earth, as they are a tree, the brown in Groot's living environment shows how he feels connected to the Earth making him secure and safe. The color yellow; however, is seen as sickness, toxicity, or betrayal. In relation to the movie yellow is seen as the color the main character wears throughout the franchise showing her determination for revenge on those who wronged her.

11/10 The Analysis of Color: Black/White The colors black and white have a wild variety of meaning. Black referring to isolation, insanity, death, darkness, and one just being devoid of something whether it be a certain emotion or feeling. Along with white being either the complete opposite of black, one being pure either in mentality or literally, a holy occurrence, someone having a revelation, or a recent death. However, in both terms of these colors relating to the movie scenes, the director almost completely changes these connotations while having these colors almost flip their meanings. The director of Men in Black has black to signify a secret society showing the higher position in society all while being up the cover of darkness. White in the clip of Riverdale is used to show a grieving character and the emotions that she is feeling all while keeping a neutral body language.

11/10 The Analysis of Color: Secondary colors The secondary colors represent a gentler saturation that connects with moods that correspond with society or social norms, putting a label on the connection of people and their perception/connection with society and the Earth. Orange is connected with immaturity and danger with the movie clip orange is used to show how the main characters immature/ risky decisions gained them some form of correctional punishment. Green is used with its movie clip to make the audience anxious, along with connecting to the main characters putting their greed before their lives and the lives of others. Purple along with its movie clip is used to show the strong emotions and deep connection between the main character and her sister.

11/10 The Analysis of Color: Primary colors The lesson is to analyze the significance of colors in media and how they may affect or enforce the genre of the media. Colors can have different connotations and denotations which could be used to create mood in a media forum. Colors are used to create mood and tones, giving depth to the clip for the audience. Having bright colors could make something cartoony or signify happy moods. Whereas darker colors create negative feelings that could add depth to a character's personality. Hue, saturation, brightness. All add personality to the media text. Hue could be a singular color on a different spectrum or colors with similar backgrounds to create a mood, saturation could be used to remove the color from the film creating a gritty tone and dark background, and brightness was used to create contrast which make feelings. The brighter tone would create happier tones, while the darker tone could create darker or realistic tones. A screenwriter w...
