Elements of Mise En scene
While learning the elements of Mise En scene, the video “What is Mise En Scene- How Directors Like Kubrick Master the Elements of Visual Storytelling.” Essentially, Mise En Scene is the arrangement of actors and items in scenes for the production of a movie, both in visual representation and storyboarding. Mise En Scene is important to help directors plan the mood and emotion the scene portrays with color, setting, lighting, makeup and costume, and set design. All these traits help create a neat filming set making the movie easy for the audience to enjoy/understand making them the key elements of mise En scene. There are two types of mise En scene; naturalistic which makes the movie seem to relate to our reality by adding aspects which exist in our own day to day life, and theatrical which doesn’t intend to be normal having nonrealistic traits. Each director portrays mise En scene differently giving their films a form of spice. This will help my team create our short movie with the understanding of how to frame our scene to create the perfect mood for our chosen genre.
